Youth DNA-v

The DNAv course allows young people to learn skills to adapt positively to change. The DNAv model promotes resilience, mindfulness, and well-being.

What is DNA-V?

DNA-V is an evidence-based model that promotes psychological strength, and that values consistent living, vitality, and success. It is designed to help people cope with challenges, stress, and change. DNA-V can be thought of as a combination of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and positive psychology, and is underpinned by contextual behavioural science. The model is continually being updated as new evidence comes in.

Discoverer
Discoverer involves broadening and building your skills, resources, and social connections. You leave your comfort zone. You learn through trial and error.

Advisor
Advisor is your inner voice – judging, evaluating, and guiding you to stay safe and act efficiently. It helps you avoid unnecessary trial-and-error learning.

Valuer
Everything in DNA-V is in the service of value. The valuer assesses the extent to which behaviour is meaningful, fun, and personally important. The valuer often asks, “What kind of person do I want to be right now?”

Noticer
Noticer involves using senses and body awareness to experience the world and detect value in the moment. It also involves emotional intelligence. This is the skill of using emotions as information and responding to emotions effectively, rather than impulsively reacting to them.

The course is delivered to groups of young people either face-to-face or online. Small groups only. Group bookings can be made, or individuals can join the course.

DURATION: 6 hours in total, six 1-hour sessions.
