Family Connections™ – Support for Families Affected by BPD
Family Connections™ is an evidence-based programme developed to support individuals who have a loved one with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) or significant emotion regulation difficulties. This structured course offers practical tools, peer support, and education to help participants improve wellbeing and strengthen family relationships.
Currently offered online via Zoom, this course is delivered in a small-group format to allow for meaningful discussion and shared learning.
What Is Family Connections™?
Family Connections™ is a free, 12-week group programme grounded in research and clinical practice. It provides education, skills training, and peer support for family members and close friends of someone experiencing BPD or related challenges. Each session lasts two hours, with an additional 1–2 hours of recommended home practice each week.
The course is designed to help participants:
- Understand BPD and the emotional challenges their loved ones may face
- Learn and apply skills based on Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
- Develop effective communication and problem-solving strategies
- Strengthen emotional resilience and reduce stress
- Receive support from others in similar situations
- Explore compassionate ways to maintain connection and boundaries
Who Can Join?
This course is suitable for adults aged 18 and above who are in a close relationship with someone experiencing BPD or traits of BPD.
- Commitment: We ask participants to attend at least 10 out of the 12 sessions as the content is progressive and skills build week by week.
- Individual Applications: Each participant must register individually, including couples or family members joining from the same location or device.
- Language: The course is conducted in English.
- Format: Sessions are currently held online via Zoom.
Cost: This course is offered free of charge, with a suggested donation to help cover programme costs.
