Standard Mental Health First Aid
The Standard Mental Health First Aid course is for any interested adult. There are three pathways to complete this course, either Face-to-Face, Blended Face-to-Face or Blended Online course. There are also different language options: English, Cantonese & Pǔtōnghuà, please contact for more information.
You will learn how to assist an adult who may be experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis until appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves, using a practical, evidence-based action plan.
This course is based on guidelines developed through the expert consensus of people with lived experience of mental health problems and professionals.
Mental health problems covered:
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Psychosis
- Substance use problems
Mental health crises covered:
- Suicidal thoughts and behaviours
- Panic attacks
- Traumatic events
- Severe psychotic states
- Severe effects from alcohol or other drug use
- Aggressive behaviours
DURATION & COURSE FORMATING:
Pathway 1. Face-to-Face: 12 hours of Face-to-Face instructor led training, usually over 2 days. Can be delivered at your organisation for groups or individuals can book onto courses
Pathway 2. Blended Face-to-Face: a self-paced e-learning component, followed by a 4-hour Face-to-Face session
Pathway 3. Blended Online: a self-paced e-learning component, followed by 2 x 2.5-hour zoom sessions
