At Positive Wellbeing Ltd, we recognise that the success of mental health initiatives within your organisation relies on well-trained, confident individuals who can deliver impactful support to their teams. Our Train the Trainer course, Bridge of Support (支持之橋) is designed to equip your company’s trainers with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to deliver high-quality mental health awareness and support training. The Bridge of Support (支持之橋) programme focuses on developing expertise in key areas such as mental health awareness, communication skills, managing difficult conversations, and self-care for trainers, ensuring they can effectively lead and support others in promoting mental wellbeing.
This section equips trainers with a deep understanding of mental health fundamentals. They explore the mental health continuum, learning how to assess mental health in various contexts, and develop techniques for identifying and managing stress using the “Stress Container” model. Trainers gain the ability to recognise and understand emotional responses to stress, identify the signs and symptoms of anxiety and low moods, and provide empathetic support. Practical tools, such as worksheets and videos, enhance their learning experience and application.
Trainers are guided on how to navigate available mental health support services. They learn when and where to refer individuals for professional help and gain a basic understanding of the roles of psychiatrists, psychologists, and counsellors. Awareness of local and private mental health services, as well as emergency resources, ensures trainers can confidently provide crisis support. This section also prepares trainers to assist individuals experiencing mental health emergencies, including suicidal thoughts.
Effective communication is at the heart of this module. Trainers are introduced to the characteristics of successful communication and counselling, with strategies to address miscommunication. They gain foundational knowledge of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) techniques to help manage negative thought patterns and behaviours. The section also explores different communication styles, highlighting the importance of assertiveness in fostering effective and empathetic conversations.
This module prepares trainers to handle challenging discussions and intense emotions in themselves and others. Trainers learn to recognise and manage strong emotions such as anger and grief, and acquire conflict resolution strategies to address disputes constructively. Emphasis is placed on the power of acknowledgment, particularly in grief-related conversations, to ease tension and build understanding.
Good listening is an essential skill for trainers, and this section focuses on developing it. Trainers learn the traits of effective listening, including the importance of verbal and non-verbal communication cues, and are taught the difference between empathy and sympathy through engaging resources like Brené Brown’s insights. They explore ways to overcome communication barriers, practice active listening skills, and use reflective listening techniques to demonstrate understanding and compassion.
To support others effectively, trainers must prioritise their own wellbeing. This section highlights the principles of self-care and helps trainers recognise their own stress triggers and adopt strategies to manage emotional balance. The importance of support networks is emphasised, encouraging trainers to lean on these relationships when needed. Additionally, trainers learn to set clear boundaries with participants, both in-person and online, and are guided on how to prioritise their recovery and wellbeing through regular breaks.
Our Train the Trainer programme is designed for organisations that want to build in-house expertise on mental health and wellbeing. By upskilling your trainers, you can create a more sustainable and empowering culture within your organisation. Our trainers bring a wealth of knowledge, experience, and empathy to ensure your team is fully equipped to support others effectively.
